This week on Anime Pulse we got Eros Power, sacred trees being toppled, and our favorite black characters in anime. Up first IRL news gets in with Joseph cheating to beat Majesty 2, and Andrew asks us to lay out who we consider our favorite black characters in anime. Afterwards comes the industry news with topics like a rustic RPG tavern bar opening up, more delays to the 2020 convention lineup, and a really old tree gets blown over. Lastly the previews continue with another joint look at a bunch of powerful high schoolers, and then Joseph punches a bug so hard he strips while Andrew fights unknown lifeforms that threaten humanity.

I have a suggestion for a forum topic (or maybe a poll?): Why don’t more people comment in the comments section of this very website? I would post a thread myself, but I no longer believe that the forum exists. Nope, there doesn’t seem to be any evidence whatsoever (note even if I look up) of these allegedly existing forums.
Aside from the segment-within-a-segment where Joey gets Mr. Chan to watch (I guess) the best harem show of all time, there is also my favorite segment, The Continuing Education of Andy!
Andy, how do you not know Casca? She is basically the only woman in the original Berserk series, and she is the…oh boy, how do I discus this? Well, at the end of the original Berserk, Casca and crew are not doing so hot.
In the trash fi- uh, in the “acquired taste” Berserk 2016, Casca is basically, again, how do I explain this, she has been assaulted in a sexual manner into a state of mental disability. The internet may phrase that differently. Even in this state, she is more interesting than any character in Neo Yokio.
Casca is not explicitly black, but she noticeably has a different skin tone than any other character on the show. No one besides Guts gets a detailed backstory, so if Casca is black, only Miura knows. Miura is said to describe her as a “brown female warrior” so Casca could represent any number of backgrounds.
On the topic of black characters, did anyone (besides myself) watch Cannon Busters? I feel like the anime fandom largely pass it over for many reasons 1) it’s not “real” anime 2) it has a majority black cast and 3) it’s a Netflix original 4) they heard it sucks.
I was majorly disappointed in the show, because it just didn’t seem like it was well written, and the lead character isn’t someone I could root for. [GoT Shame lady.gif]
Deca-dence isn’t a hammer, dude. It’s a fist! Basically one big rocket punch. That’s all you need, really. A body’s just a waste.
